MY NEIGHBORHOOD, NYC - Restaurant Life
Can you fine the woman pointing at the camera in the shots below? These shots have accumulated over time. To preserve anonymity I have not named the restaurants. They are of dubious focus, and one underlit, but that’s photography in dimly-lit Soho Restaurants. Best Bard

COLD IN NYC
These are some black and whites of people avoiding the nasty temperatures:  the abandoned bicycle, the hailing of limos, and the end of a warm cab ride.

ODE TO A SLUT
I don’t care how much heat I take for this. I think it’s hilarious, jesting, and the verbal construction is genius. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen and quit yer bitchin’, my humorless, politically correct - or shall we say terrified? - friends… ODE TO A SLUT She who looks down upon the chaste, And sees the dreary virgins waste Away until their skin...

More Winter in NYC
In the last batch i posted, i used black and white. i was shooting white snow in the black night. It seemed like a natural choice. I found it worked very well. So I tried it the next day. Turns out that it conveys a sense of cold temperatures as well, even on the sunny day shown below. Cold body language in the “subjects” helps, but I think there’s more to it than that. Later...

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
finally we are getting some real snow here in nyc. back in 1993-4, i was constantly flying into nyc and the airport was always slammed with a storm. it’s been years that nyc has seen any snow at all. i’m all for it. went out to shoot said snow, after dark. i use light from car headlights, buildings, street lamps, lit signs, what ever i can to get an image at night. the mix of black...

She is the dark Mother from whom we are born and into whom we will resolve. She is nesting in you and you are nesting in her. She is all that you see, touch, taste, smell and hear. She is the world as one; she is oneness as the diverse, wondrous...

MY TRIP TO INDIA
a better photographer than me can make people feel relaxed enough to catch them at ease, avoiding the posed look. i can’t do this, but if i steal a shot, i can often get some nice expressions. i’d like to think the photo’s below suggest this. thanks everyone for your birthday wishes. i slept through it, deeply tired. but i’m back!

Edu-vacation
I’ve been taking up reading philosophy again, this time of the Eastern variety. Decided to go to the place where the texts were written. Very deep in the south. Only Tamil is spoken. This is a place where people have lived continuously for 10,000 years. One can barely scratch the surface of the culture. I got sick both from the environment AND my anti-malaria drug, then i got of head-cold...
